Our volunteers help rig, launch, recover, wash and put away the boats and also assist disabled people to, and in and out of the boats.
Volunteers also give help with sailing when needed, and ideally we would like people with RYA sailing and powerboat qualifications. However, anyone who is happy to help doing a variety of tasks, including helping people in and out of boats, will be welcomed. Away from the water we also have an ongoing need for fundraising and always welcome anyone willing to share this work.
Sailing sessions take place about 20 times per year, between March and October. It is not necessary to attend all sessions, and an average session will last about 5 - 6 hours.
No special skills or qualifications are required, however if would be helpful if volunteers had some RYA sailing and powerboat certificates. More importantly though is that volunteers should have a feeling for small boats, empathy with disabled people and be reasonably fit.
It is a multi-tasking team effort to make sailing days a success.
