Overall purpose: To help with transporting families with children with complex medical needs to local activities

Role responsibilities:

  • Driving the charity minibus (fuel provided)
  • Collect and drop off families to local activities
  • Help children and families onto and off of the bus
  • Engaging with families during their journey and being a friendly face of the charity
  • Undertake The Maypole Project initial training
  • Follow The Maypole Project policies and guidelines at all times whilst volunteering

What skills do I need?

· Over 25 years of age · Hold valid clean driving license · Has been driving for 5+ years · Good communication and interpersonal skills · Ability to empathise with families in difficult situations · Discreet and able to adhere to confidentiality procedures · Commitment to equal opportunities and a non-judgmental attitude

The mini-bus is mainly used for our Holiday Outings and Activities which take place during half-term breaks and school holidays. Our Youth Club which meets on Thursday evenings can on occasion require use of the mini-bus too.

Location: Across South East London (mainly the borough of Bromley, occasionally Lambeth/Southwark/Greenwich/Lewisham).

Time commitment: Flexible depending on when activities are taking place and the volunteer’s availability.
