‘If you have some time (no matter how little), have a desire to learn about Parkinson's and keen to help people, then volunteering is so fulfilling - I am so glad I decided to volunteer for our local group - it has enriched me as a person, reignited my passion for learning and being creative, and generally allowed me to "give back" to a community who benefit from our support.’ Hazel, Support Group Helper, Reigate. As a Support Group Helper like Hazel you will directly support people living with Parkinson’s. At our Keighley group we are looking for someone with good digital skills who can help us to keep in touch with our members. You'll be asked to complete Data Protection Training, and hold responsibility for keeping the contact details of our group members safe. We would love to find someone who is also happy to put together a short newsletter each month and send it out to our members. The group meets on the first three Mondays of the month, at Keighley Healthy Living Centre. In summer the group often goes on day trips, and we would encourage you to come along and get involved. The tasks around the membership list and newsletter can be done in your own time, and would take around two hours per week. For more information read the attached role description, click the Ask a Question button or contact Becki Craft, Local Volunteer Officer, on [email protected]
