We are looking for a volunteer to help maintain the garden in between gardening groups. We have a contract for lawn cutting and hedge trimming. However, the we need additional support with the gardens to bring them to their full glory such as potting, growing veg, supporting patients in taking pride in the gardens etc.

If the volunteer would also like to join in with our group work to support patient engagement, that will be supported and can be worked towards following the correct procedures.

Practical Considerations

Free parking. Travel expenses will be paid.

Support Disabled

Regular supervision is given to volunteers.

What skills do I need?

  • Basic knowledge of gardening
  • A reasonable level of fitness is necessary to handle manual tasks and work outdoors
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • An ability to relate well to people on a one to one basis and be sympathetic to others’ situations
  • Well presented, with a friendly and approachable manner and good verbal communication skills
  • An ability to be patient and calm even in the face of difficult situations
  • An ability to act on own initiative within the role description.
