We are looking for volunteers who can help us to sort and prepare our textile donations ready for sale at our three Outfit shops. Outfit at Portslade was nominated for Shop of the Year Award run by the Charity Retail Association and leads the way in picking and selling vintage and preloved fashion and textiles.

This is a great opportunity for anyone who loves fashion or textiles and who has some spare time to help us out. If you want to learn about stock picking, fashion trends, pricing and sales, this would also be the right volunteering experience for you.

Main duties:

  •  Unpack and sort textiles of all types (fashion, shoes, accessories, linens and fabrics) by category
  •  Pick textiles on a regular basis for our three Outfit shops based on market, trend and brand knowledge
  •  Identify any items which might be of high value or particular interest for marketing online
  •  Help sort out our seasonal stock of donations ready for our shops
  •  Potential for volunteering at our shops.

Benefits

  • Relevant training provided and a great opportunity to build work experience
  • Lunch in our community kitchen is available for any volunteer completing a four-hour shift
  • Reasonable travel expenses to our site in Portslade can be reimbursed by agreement.

Practical Considerations

Please note volunteers must be aged 18 or over and will require a basic DBS check.

What skills do I need?

  •  Some knowledge or interest in fashion or textiles would be preferable
  •  Experience of teamwork and following agreed ways of working
  •  Please note that this role can involve physical work.
