About ACISS:

Our organisation is dedicated to educating, informing, connecting, and equipping African immigrants and people of African descent in Surrey and Sussex with the people and resources they need to foster a thriving community. 

We believe that by fostering a sense of belonging and community, we can break down cultural divides and promote a harmonious and prosperous society for all. 

Role Purpose: 

We're looking for enthusiastic, friendly, and reliable volunteers to support our community events, festivals, and fundraising activities throughout the year. 

As an Ad Hoc Events Volunteer, you'll play an important role in creating welcoming, safe, and enjoyable events for our community. Every event is different, so your tasks may vary, offering a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience while meeting new people and supporting meaningful community initiatives. 

Whether you're looking to build your skills, give back to your local community, or simply be part of exciting cultural celebrations, we'd love to hear from you. 

Key Responsibilities may include: 

  • Helping to set up and pack down event venues 
  • Welcoming, registering, and directing attendees 
  • Providing information and assisting visitors throughout the event 
  • Supporting crowd management and ensuring attendees are guided safely 
  • Assisting with stalls, activities, and fundraising initiatives 
  • Supporting stallholders, exhibitors, and vendors as required 
  • Assisting with general event logistics and coordination 
  • Carrying out other reasonable duties related to the event, as agreed with ACISS 

Training & Support: 

  • Full induction 
  • Ongoing supervision and guidance 
  • Reimbursement of agreed expenses (e.g. travel costs)

No previous event experience is necessary—we'll provide the guidance you need.
