To support older people to achieve personal goals, increase confidence and become more connected to their local community. Working alongside the Enabling Connections Coordinator, volunteers will provide encouragement, companionship and practical support to help individuals improve their wellbeing and independence.
What skills do I need?
• Good Communicator: You enjoy talking with people and helping them feel heard.
• Encouraging & Patient: You know how to motivate someone when they feel uncertain.
• Positive & Supportive: You are comfortable encouraging older people to try new activities, build confidence and take positive steps towards their goals at their own pace.
• Focused: You can keep your weekly chats and outings centred around the goal you agreed.
• Reliable: You can show up consistently for the short time your match is counting on you.
• Good with Boundaries: You understand the value of a short-term boost and can help someone transition away from the service without creating dependency.
• Local Savvy: You know your local area well or are happy to research.
