Stepping Stones Together ABA Social Club is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Volunteer Play Assistant to support autistic children in developing social and play skills within a structured and supportive environment. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting children with special educational needs (SEN) and want to make a meaningful impact in their lives. The Volunteer Play Assistant will help facilitate activities, encourage positive peer interactions, and ensure the well-being of the children during club sessions.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Support the planning and delivery of structured play sessions designed to enhance social interaction, communication, and cooperation among autistic children.
  • Supervise and actively engage with children during play-based activities, ensuring a safe, positive, and inclusive environment.
  • Encourage and model appropriate social skills, including turn-taking, sharing, and effective communication.
  • Work collaboratively with Behaviour Analysts (BCBAs), ABA tutors, and other volunteers to implement structured play and behaviour support strategies.
  • Monitor children’s engagement and progress, offering gentle support and encouragement as needed.
  • Assist with setting up and tidying away play equipment and resources before and after sessions.
  • Provide feedback to the session leaders about children's participation and any notable observations.
  • Follow safeguarding and health & safety procedures to ensure the well-being of all children in attendance.

What We Offer:

  • A rewarding opportunity to make a direct impact on the lives of autistic children.
  • Experience working in an ABA-informed social setting, valuable for those considering careers in education, psychology, or child development.
  • Training and guidance on best practices in supporting children with autism and learning disabilities.
  • A supportive and inclusive volunteer community.
