Why should I become a member?

If you answered yes to these questions, becoming a board member may be the perfect opportunity for you!

As a board member, you will be an expert based on your experiences living in Southend. If you are passionate about making positive changes throughout our city, this role is ideal for you. So far, the board has awarded over £2.2 million in supporting voluntary sector organisations to enhance their impact.

Our vision for Southend is a sustainable community where residents are engaged in their wider communities, empowered to reach their full potential and enjoy healthy and fulfilling lives in a safe and proud city.

A successful candidate will be enthusiastic and passionate about Southend, have knowledge of our local community, and commit to being a member for at least one year. The board meets in person in Southend or virtually on the first Friday morning of each month.

Who are the Community Investment Board?

The Community Investment Board is made up of local residents who volunteer their time to make investments that enable Southend residents to improve their lives.

They are responsible for awarding and distributing various grants and funding., including a 3-year £1.5 million Community Investment Fund from Southend on Sea City Council.

The Board is made up of volunteers from across Southend who have experience using various community, health and social care services as well as arts and culture.

Their goal is to create a sustainable Southend in which residents actively participate in their communities, feel empowered to achieve their goals, and can lead fulfilling lives in a city they are proud of.  Safety is also a top priority and they strive to promote healthy living for all.

 

 

What skills do I need?

Keen to hear from those with a range of heritages, young people, those living with a disability, unpaid carers, survivors of serious health conditions, abuse or harm. Knowledge of arts and crafts
