DIY support volunteers

South Essex Wildlife Hospital receives hundreds of enquiries every year from people wishing to get involved and help. Of course we are very grateful for offers of help, however, it is very important that the right person is given the correct type of job to do.

We are looking for volunteers who can support us in maintaining and creating the spaces that the animal visitors to the hospital use, as unfortunately they do have a slightly discerning habit of causing damage to them it is an ongoing job maintaining and repairing enclosures.

Bulbs may blow and fuses go alongside the general maintenance, therefore there is always something that requires attention. The hospital building its self also requires regular maintenance, repair and decorating. We have a large wild area plus various ponds that require attention and we would also appreciate support with the garden space at the hospital.

At times due to the animal guest we are expecting, we may contact you at short notice so would discuss with you your availability

Basic tools and materials are provided from us and you will provide your good workmanship, to keep the hospital in top condition.

What skills do I need?

Good Workman ship

Practical skills

Relevant qualifications for skilled jobs such as electrical or plumbing.
