Every day, seafarers from across the globe dock at Tilbury, bringing with them 95% of the goods we rely on—from food and clothes to cars and tech. Many have spent up to 9 months at sea, away from family and friends. When they step ashore, they’re looking for something simple but powerful: connection, comfort, and a warm welcome.

That’s where you come in.

At the QVSR Seafarers’ Centre, you’ll meet people from all over the world, hear incredible stories, and help create a space where seafarers can relax, recharge, and reconnect with loved ones. With over 8,500 visitors each year, no two days are the same.

As a Volunteer Driver, you'll help seafarers make the most of their limited time ashore:

• Transport crew between ships and the Seafarers’ Centre
• Drive within the Port of Tilbury or to nearby locations like DP World and Lakeside
• Offer a friendly face and conversation along the way

You’ll be more than just a driver—you’ll be a vital link to the outside world.

What skills do I need?

·         Full Clean Driving Licence (you need to be aged between 25 to 70)

·         Enthusiasm and passion for engaging with people and helping others.

·         Compassionate concern for the well-being of others.

·         Flexible approach.

·         Culturally aware with the ability to relate easily to many different cultures, faiths, ages, and needs.

·         Good communication skills.

·         Ability to use own initiative and to work as part of a team.
