Gardening Volunteer Role Description
Assisting people living with dementia to get outdoors, connect with nature, themselves and their community, and retain a sense of adventure in their lives.
Key tasks:
● Greeting the person living with dementia to the group ensuring they feel welcomed and feel part of the team
● Assist with horticultural tasks such as deadheading, pruning, and weeding, planting, watering, potting and sowing seed. Winter activities still include nature-based activities and, with the lovely outside space at the pavilion, weather permitting, we will still spend as much time outside as possible.
● Interact with visitors and explain the significance of the garden and its purpose
● Supervise the group members following good practice in health and safety health and safetyprocedures, and supporting adults with dementia

Hours: At most 2 hours a week as the group meets weekly on a Friday morning, but even 2 hours a month would be a great support.
