Accuro provides a range of services for children, young people and adults with a disability & their family. The recruitment of volunteers is seen as an essential & vital component in the delivery of most of these services. 

Accuro’s Saturday Play Club based in Saffron Walden provides a fun, safe and caring, play-based environment for up to 16 children between the age of 8 and 19 who have a range of disabilities. The club runs from 10.00 to 14.00 on 38 Saturdays per year (term time). 

Although the club offers a high staff/child/young person ratio, volunteers provide the setting with highly desirable extra pairs of hands and eyes and they may bring unique qualities and talents to the club which will benefit the children and young people. 

Volunteers may be asked to assist with a variety of activities or provide some 1:1 support, they may also be asked to accompany the group on outings.

What skills do I need?

Experience of working with children with disabilities helpful but not essential. Training given, to include Safeguarding Training

Hopes & Expectations:

• Hours to be by mutual agreement between volunteers and Club Coordinator/Deputy.

• Supporting children in activities and outings as requested by Play Club staff

• Using initiative to assist in a situation where another member of staff may need support.

• Becoming a member of a committed team.

• Expressing ideas for new/novel activities and outings

• Attending training sessions relevant to the post.

• Attending team meetings from time to time. 

• To follow the guidelines and policies of Accuro.
