Looking for a new challenge? Could you visit schools in your local area to deliver assemblies and workshops about CAFOD’s work and encourage young people to take action with CAFOD? No experience necessary. Full support, resources and regular training provided.

From an early age, children and young people have a keen sense of justice. School volunteers inform and inspire them, helping them to turn their passion for justice into real action. With school volunteers’ input, they learn to care for their global sisters and brothers, both now and as they grow up.

As a school volunteer you will visiting schools to deliver assemblies and interactive classroom sessions. You will be building positive relationships with an agreed number of schools, encouraging them to book further visits and to act with CAFOD for a fairer world. You will prepare for visits using materials such as PowerPoint presentations, posters and activity ideas provided by CAFOD. Following the visit, you’ll be asked to complete a short feedback form after every visit, to keep the local CAFOD team up to date with your contact with schools.

What skills do I need?

It is not necessary to have previous experience in schools as full support, resources and regular training is provided. However, the ability to communicate with children and young people, or potential and willingness to develop the ability to do is vital.

You will have an ability and willingness to use technology to deliver Powerpoint presentations. Training is provided to help you do this.

You should also be comfortable using email and telephone to communicate with schools to organise visits, and to access a website to find resources and information.

CAFOD is a Roman Catholic organisation but there is no requirement or expectation that volunteers will be Roman Catholic. We welcome applications from people of all faiths and none. However, an appreciation of our mission and values is essential https://cafod.org.uk/about-us/how-we-work/our-common-home-vision
