Sport in Mind are going to have an AIRHUB, an information hub in the campsite at the new State Fayre Festival at Hylands Park in Chelmsford and we are looking for a team of volunteers to help support the event. The role will include helping set up our AIRHUB, taking down the AIRHUB, aiding festival goers that might be struggling with poor mental health and offering them a safe place to take time out. We can offer them a cup of tea and a chat, or just a quiet place to relax. We aim to spread awareness of Sport in Mind, the leading sports mental health charity in England and Wales. Volunteers will be asked to commit to at least four x6-hour shifts (including one night shift), we will ensure there is a 12-hour gap between each shift. All volunteers that help at the event, will be given a free weekend wristband to the festival and the option to camp on-site in staff camping. All volunteers will get free camping, free parking and x1 meal voucher per day. Each volunteer will have to commit to all shifts on their rota to be eligible to volunteer, this will include one night shift.

We will have four teams of Sport in Mind staff and volunteers and teams will consist of four people. Volunteers will be given Sport in Mind merchandise to wear whilst on shift at the AIRHUB.

The volunteer role can be intense at times, you may come across intoxicated festival goers, safeguarding concerns, different weather conditions, and challenging night shifts. Last year, we received great feedback from volunteers who said they thoroughly enjoyed the experience and found it rewarding. We will ensure all volunteers get to see plenty of the music as well!

Rota will be completed and shared when we fill the 16 volunteer spots. All volunteers will get online training prior to the event, that is provided by the organisers, Festival Republic.

What skills do I need?

Happy to talk to people, approachable, happy to volunteer on a night shift
