'Time' is an art exhibition which encapsulates the experience and journey of the brain tumour community. The exhibition will be a mix of both works submitted by our community and well-known artists that follows the theme ‘Time’. The Exhibition will be held at the prestigious Business Design Centre in Central London between 2nd—16th April 2023.

We are looking for someone who is able to help us in the months prior to the exhibition at our offices in Fleet to carry out a range of tasks including receiving, cataloguing and photographing the artwork. We would then need some help in London to set up the exhibition and to help during the 2 week duration (but not every day, we are flexible to your other commitments). Reasonable travel expenses to London would be reimbursed.  

We are looking for a volunteer with a passion for the arts to support us in these areas:-

• Coordinating, cataloguing and photographing art submissions prior to the event.
• Support on the set up day which will involved unpacking and coordinating the art at the Business Design Centre and setting up our reception and shop area.
• Support throughout the exhibition which will include liaising with visitors, guiding them through the gallery and supporting the team with donations, ticketing and sales.
  

You will be supporting the Events Team maximising the delivery of the event as well as providing the artists and visitors a high quality supporter experience.

You will receive training for the role and ongoing direction from one of the team, who will be your key contact. Volunteers will be required to complete internal data protection documentation before commencing the role. Volunteers must be over 18. We encourage volunteers to claim for any reasonable expenses that are incurred in the course of their volunteering with the Charity.

What skills do I need?

We're looking for individuals who are:-

• Passionate about the arts, hands-on and enthusiastic
• Happy to ‘muck-in’ and help across a range of tasks where needed
• Friendly and approachable for advising visitors on what to see
• Interest in leading art tours of small groups (not essential)
• Basic awareness of current affairs of the art world
• Organised and committed — you don’t need to be available for the entire 2 weeks but be committed to the availability agreed

We particularly encourage applications from those who are significantly under-represented in our sector, including individuals from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities

Time commitment

• A minimum of a day a week in our office in Fleet for several months prior to the event to help with receiving, cataloguing and photographing the artwork.
• Helping at the set-up day in London
• The exhibition is running between 2nd-16th April 2023 and we will need support to set up the exhibit then helping at both the daily openings and support at our mini evening events, which will be for VIPs and paid-for tickets. You will not be expected to be at the event for the entire 2 weeks.
