Volunteer befrienders wanted to support and befriend older people in the community. Befrienders can help to relieve loneliness and social isolation for a member of the community.
Our team of Volunteers visit anyone who is housebound or isolated within their own home. The role of a befriender is to offer one-to-one relationship promoting friendship and company.
The Volunteers are asked to spend an hour a week with an elderly person in their home just chatting.
It doesn't have to be the same hour or the same day each week, this can be arranged between the Befriender and Client. There are a lot of elderly people out in our community who don't either get out or see anyone for weeks.
Just an hour a week would make such a difference and something they could look forward to.
