Description
Clinical volunteers are an essential element of our camps! They participate in daily camper life to provide nursing/medical care. By contributing to a 24/7 provision of residential medical care, they facilitate a medically sound and safe camp experience for children with chronic and life-threatening illnesses. Clinical volunteers will work under the supervision of the Clinical Director and Nursing Coordinators.
Minimum Requirements:
NURSE
Registered Children’s, Adult or Learning Disabilities nurse.
Qualified for 18 months (Children’s nurse) or 2 years (Adult / Learning Disabilities nurse)
Qualified for 12 months if previous Student Nurse who attended a placement at OTWC
Registered with NMC
Holds professional indemnity insurance
Holds valid, current Adult and Child life support and child protection training.
DOCTOR
ST2 or above in Paediatrics, GP, or Emergency Medicine
Must have paediatric experience
Registered with the GMC
Holds professional indemnity insurance
Hold valid, current Adult and Child life support and child safeguarding training.
PARAMEDIC
Qualified Paramedic
Post registration experience: 2 years
Registered with HCPC
Holds professional indemnity insurance with College of Paramedics
Holds valid, current Adult and Child life support and child protection training.
Expectations
Prescribing (doctors and non-medical prescribers). Preparation and administration of medications by all routes
