Naya Bato have a team of English and Nepali tutors who run a weekly English class for ex-Gurkhas and their families.

We are looking for one more volunteer to help deliver our classes. We have around 40 students divided into groups by English ability.

The students are mostly elderly; their English language skills are very limited and some have little experience of formal education but they are very friendly and extremely keen to learn.

Any teaching or training experience would be helpful, together with an interest in Nepali culture.  A good knowledge of English grammar and syntax is required as are good people skills and a degree of patience! Flexibility and the ability to work as part of a team is also very useful.

We meet every Wednesday morning; volunteers generally arrive around 10.30am, although the classes do not actually start until 11.00am until 12.30pm in rooms kindly provided by the Mormon Church in Aldershot.

What skills do I need?

Any teaching or training experience would be helpful, together with an interest in Nepali culture.

Clear spoken English.

Volunteers can be 17+.
