The role of an IT Coach is to provide tuition to older people (50+) that are looking to gain confidence in using their digital devices.

The coaching sessions run in 6 weekly courses throughout the year on Thursday mornings at the Winton House Centre, 18 High Street, Petersfield. Sessions last an hour on a one-to-one basis and are tailored to the individual. 

You would be normally be needed from 9.30am - 11.30am, to see two clients for the 6 week course. We typically run 5 to 6 courses each year. There would be some flexibility if you had holidays during the tuition time.  

You will be working as part of a friendly and welcoming coaching team, led by Sheridan Rocher who coordinates the group and organises the client sessions. 

What skills do I need?

Please note: At this time we are particularly looking for someone that is experienced with iPhones as we currently only have one coach who has iPhone knowledge and experience. 

Good working knowledge of IT processes such as how to use email, how to search for information online, shop securely, set up devices and sort out apps etc. However, you are not expected to know about everything in depth, but should be able to research solutions and find out how to do things that you are not familiar with. 

Able to use various devices such as laptops, iPads, tablets and smartphones as clients bring their own devices with them. 

To be friendly with the clients and create a relaxed and happy atmosphere which is conducive to their learning. 

To be able to empower clients so that they gain the confidence to use their devices themselves, and not to simply do everything for them. 

A sense of humour is helpful.
