What skills do I need?
- Problem-solving skills
- Ability to diagnose faults and find solutions
- Good manual dexterity – Comfortable using hand tools and working with small parts
- Patience and perseverance – Repairs can take time and creativity
- Clear communication – Explaining the issue or repair to visitors in a friendly way
- Team spirit – Willingness to collaborate with other volunteers
- Safety awareness – Understanding of safe repair practices
Practical repair skills in one or more areas:
- Small electrical appliances (e.g. kettles, toasters, lamps)
- Mechanical items (e.g. clocks, watches, tools)
- Textiles (e.g. clothing repairs, mending, basic sewing)
- Furniture or household goods
