We’re looking for volunteers willing to share their professional skills to help shape the school’s strategic direction, hold leaders to account, and ensure public money is well spent.

What's in it for you? Real board-level experience: strategic decision-making, financial oversight, leadership, and effective challenge. And don’t worry if you’ve never worked in education before - full training and support are provided to help you succeed. Importantly, you’ll be helping young people from every background get the start in life they deserve.

The commitment is around 4–5 hours a month, with options to get more involved. It really is a rewarding experience, and we’d love for you to join us!

What skills do I need?

The most important attributes are:

  • A willingness to ask questions and hold leaders to account respectfully
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
  • Integrity, fairness, and the ability to keep information confidential
  • An interest in helping children, whatever their background or ability, get the best possible start in life
  • Commitment to prepare for and attend meetings (in total around 4–5 hours per month)

We aim to create a diverse governing body that reflects our community, so we welcome volunteers of all ages (18+), backgrounds, and experiences. If you have the time, curiosity, and a desire to make a real difference, we’d love to hear from you.

We particularly welcome applications from people with backgrounds:

  • finance
  • HR
  • law
  • data
  • safeguarding
  • leadership
  • project management
  • risk
  • community work

On appointment, you'll be invited to complete an induction course provided by Hampshire Governor Services. Depending on your preferences there is a whole range of further courses you could attend (at no cost to you), which you can see here: https://www.hants.gov.uk/educationandlearning/governors/training-courses-we-offer
