As a sleep well volunteer, you will help patients settle down for rest and sleep, providing comfort, reassurance, and companionship during the evening and night. You will assist with bedtime routines, offering snacks, hot drinks, and sleep kits (eye masks and ear plugs), and help patients access relaxing music via their bedside TV system.

Your role includes checking patients’ comfort levels, attending to any pain or specific needs, listening to concerns or worries, and offering reassurance to promote a calm and restful environment. You may also support relaxation by reading to patients if they wish.

Additionally, you will help maintain a peaceful ward by encouraging appropriate use of TVs and radios, reporting or addressing any faulty equipment, and noting anything that can improve patients’ sleep experience. Your presence helps create a supportive, safe, and restful atmosphere in the evening.
