THE ROLE

We are looking to recruit volunteers to paint the raised, plastic, tactile pictures that go into our picture books for blind and visually impaired children. For example, painting a simple tactile picture of The Gruffalo or The Very Hungry Caterpillar. You will be joining a friendly supportive staff and volunteer team and would be making a huge contribution in helping to make our books a wonderful experience for young blind and visually impaired readers. All equipment and tools are provided.

MAIN DUTIES

* Painting the plastic, raised tactile pictures, using acrylic paints and brushes. * Following a colour sample, ensuring that the tactile pictures are as faithful to the sample as possible. * Painting the tactile pictures with accuracy and care.

COMMITMENT REQUIRED Volunteer sessions are usually 3+ hours at our studios and slots are available Monday to Thursday, 1pm to 4.30pm, or Thursday 9am to 12.30pm. We request one reference for this role.

What skills do I need?

This role would particularly suit someone who enjoys painting and/or other types of crafting that require really good attention to detail, precision, eye for detail e.g. model making, amateur artist, hobby painters and crafters.
