Scouting offers challenge and adventure to all its members (young and old). We believe in helping our young people fulfill their potential by working in teams, learning by doing and thinking for themselves. 

However, to be able to give young people the opportunities they need we rely on adult volunteers and we are always looking for new members to join our fun and dynamic teams. Scouting is definitely not just for young people! It's good for you too. You can develop career-boosting skills, improve your wellbeing, and help make connections with friends, family and the local community.

In addition to opportunities in our existing Beaver, Cub and Scout sections, we are also recruiting for our new Squirrel drey! 

You don't need any previous experience just an enthusiastic can-do approach. There is no minimum requirements for time, we can discuss your availability and make scouting fit around your commitments.

Outline:

• Support the Team Leader in the successful operation of the Section in particular, the planning and delivery of the Balanced Programme. 
• Working alongside other Team Members, Young Leaders and the wider Group Leadership Team.

Responsible to: Group Lead Volunteer, Section Team Leader

Responsible for: Young Leaders whilst they are working in the section.

Appointment requirements:

• Must successfully complete the appointment process (including acceptable personal enquiries and acceptance of The Scout Association's policies).
• During the five months of Provisional Appointment the relevant Getting Started modules must be completed which cover Safety and Safeguarding
• Ongoing Safety, Safeguarding and First Aid training

What skills do I need?

• Good team player, ability to work as part of a team
• Good communication and inter-personal skills
  
• Able to think creatively and solve problems
  
• Ability to engage with young people aged between 4 and 14 years old (depending on section). 
• Be able to delegate and respond to changing situations
• Willing to actively design and contribute to the programme planning of the Section
• Willingness to take decisions which will further the work of the Section
• No previous scouting experience is needed
• Training and support will be given
