Emmaus Hampshire is a vibrant community for the homeless. We provide a home and meaningful employment through our retail stores, kitchen development centre, repair shop, recycling centre, and distribution services.

We provide personal development for all our Companions (our ex-homeless residents), which can help maximise their potential and secure their entry back into independent living.

We are seeking a Volunteer Coordinator who has the empathy and communications skills to attract, screen and train our new volunteers working in partnership with our Support Management team. The role requires an average of 8 hours per week and is flexible enabling the Coordinator to organise their work at times that are suitable for themselves. The role is 80% home based, supplemented by meetings with potential volunteers in our Winchester and Eastleigh stores.

If you are looking to volunteer your time with a charity, and you are keen on having a role which you can have genuine influence and independence this is the role for you. You will also obtain huge satisfaction through the impact of your voluntary work.

What skills do I need?

Desirable skills & responsibilities:

  1. Recruiting, screening, training, and onboarding of new volunteers.
  2. Collecting volunteer information, DBS and reference checks, availability, skills, and maintaining an up-to-date record.
  3. Keeping new and existing volunteers informed about the organisation and volunteer opportunities, including through periodic events.
  4. Matching volunteers to opportunities that suit their skill sets, and ensuring they understand their responsibilities and receive the proper training.
  5. Organising training and ensuring that we provide them on-the-job training.
  6. Liaise with the Support Management Team to define the specific roles and tasks that are required for each volunteer to ensure we maximise their time and provide them the satisfaction their contribution deserves.
