The Footprints Project is a 'through the gate' mentoring service supporting men and women who are being released from prison or serving community sentences in Hampshire.

We train volunteers as mentors to support our clients. As a volunteer mentor, you will offer confidence and support to anxious and vulnerable people who have often suffered from abuse, poor health, addiction problems, brought up in care homes, spent lengthy periods of time in prison, have low self-esteem and levels of confidence and need help to access their benefits, food, accommodation, signposting to support groups to address their offending behaviour, health needs, addictions, etc, as well as helping them to become involved in volunteering, training and employment.

By helping and supporting ex-offenders, they are less likely to return to crime and only with help are they able to change their patterns of behaviour.

What skills do I need?

This is a very worthwhile opportunity for proactive people who can empathise and encourage others who are in need of encouragement and support.

Volunteer mentors will report to a Footprints staff member who will support and supervise them. Volunteers are required to be able to use an online case-management system (training will be given) to report on their progress with a Service User after every face-to-face meeting or telephone appointment.
