Do you love to cook ?

We are looking for a volunteer cook to help in our Cafe in the centre of Romford.

We will provide training for the successful volunteers who we hope will pass the Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene exam.

The role includes the following tasks:

  • Volunteer with other members of the Cafe team to provide the best service for our customers
  • Prepare food in accordance with the daily menu requirements and as allocated by the Cafe manager
  • Cook and portion food, package take-away food and keep track of ingredient quantities
  • Clean and sanitise the working surfaces, equipment, utensils and working area
  • Perform occasional re-stocking duties
  • Report an concerns (Health & Safety, Safeguarding etc,) as soon as possible to a member of staff

This is an excellent opportunity for volunteers to gain practical experience and for those who want to further themselves with a career in the hospitality industry.


What skills do I need?

Formal qualifications are not required but some desirable skills are:

  • Friendly, with a positive attitude to wards mental health.
  • A team player with the ability to problem solve and show initiative
  • Experience of a customer facing role
  • Food Hygiene certificate or other appropriate training
  • Willingness to make use of training provided to develop cooking and food hygiene skills
  • Ability to learn and also teach others

We are looking for volunteer cooks who can commit to at least 2 days per month for a minimum of 3 months.
Volunteer shifts may very. Typical shifts could be from 09:00 - 13:30 and/or 13.00 to 17:30.
