Who Are We?

Horsham District Wellbeing is a friendly and impartial service which comes from your local authority and other partners. Our aim is to provide support to adults aged 18+ looking to improve their health and wellbeing. Our trained Wellbeing Advisors offer one-to-one appointments for those wishing to quit smoking, reduce their alcohol intake, improve their nutrition as well as those wanting to get active and lose weight or have a Wellbeing MOT or NHS Health Check. All our services are free of charge. Appointments take place in our Wellbeing Hub in Horsham town, and across the district at outreach clinics.

The Role:

Horsham Wellbeing coordinate the Wellbeing Walks Programme on behalf of Horsham District Council. The scheme has been running for over 20 years and offers free, sociable, volunteer led walks. With roughly 30 walks to choose from each month that cater for all levels, the walks offer a great opportunity for people to come together and explore the wonderful towns and countryside across the Horsham District. All of our Wellbeing Walks are led by trained volunteers and without them, the scheme would not exist. We are looking to recruit more Volunteer Walk Leaders to provide support to our current programme.

If you love walking, are able to commit to regular walk leading and would like to help other people to get more active then this role might be for you.

We recommend the best thing to do if you are interested in this role is to pop along to your nearest walk, chat with the leader and walkers and get a feel for the scheme. Once you have done this you can submit your interest in becoming a leader and we will be in touch to discuss the next steps. Please note you will need to attend training before becoming a walk leader so there may be a delay in starting the role as it is dependent on the availability of training.

What skills do I need?

Communication skills - friendly and welcoming and confident at speaking in front of small groups

Leadership skills - well-organised and able to take control and be assertive when needed and observant and sensitive to the needs of others
