Who Are We?
Southwater Youth Project, exists to serve the children and young people of Southwater.
The Role:
Southwater Youth Project are looking for awesome people who have energy, enthusiasm and a desire to help and walk alongside the children and young people of our community.
- To help and encourage them to be the best they can be.
- To share their skills and passion, to help children and young people to feel part of the community.
- To feel valued, to listen to them.
- To help give them opportunities to step out of their comfort zone and take risks.
- To build confidence and self-esteem.
We are looking for volunteers for a variety of sessions, some more specific and more just general. We like volunteers to offer their time either weekly, fortnightly or monthly. We are also looking for emergency and holiday cover.
Examples of activities you could support:
It could be sitting alongside children and young people and drawing, painting or being creative. It could be having a game of pool/table tennis or organising a team activity. Or just being a listening ear, talking through their day. Also, facilitating a cooking session or playing a game, either cards, board games or the Nintendo switch.
What skills do I need?
- Enthusiasm
- The desire to help / support and be with children and young people
- Willingness to share skills
- Patience
- Ability to keep calm
- Interest in either sport / arts / drama / music etc.
- Outdoor education
- Map reading
- Camp craft
- Ability to work in a team.
