Independent Visitors are volunteers who befriend and support children and young people who live in residential care or have a foster carer.

Independent Visitors meet once a month with a young person to do activities together and have fun. This may be a trip to bowling, or perhaps a day out somewhere., They may join them in their hobbies or maybe just go for a chat, tea & cake. There is a small allowance to cover travel and out of pocket expenses.

What skills do I need?

No special skills required.

If you have empathy, and are willing to make a long term commitment to a young person on a regular basis and can offer a few hours a month to meet with a child or young person in foster care, then you could be just what we are looking for.

All you need is to be able to offer support and a listening ear whilst joining in with positive activities.

Location

This opportunity has no specific location e.g. can be carried out anywhere.
