No prior Scouting experience or skills required, just a sense of adventure. We support flexible volunteering and you can help out as often or as little as you like.
5th Stevenage Air Scout Group has been part of the Stevenage community for over 70 years, helping generations of young people build confidence, skills, and friendships. We are a thriving group running at capacity with waiting lists across our sections.
We are looking for new volunteers to join us, in many roles, whether as a leader with Beavers (ages 5 3/4 to 8), Cubs (7 1/2 to 10½), Scouts (10½ to 14 1/2), or behind-the-scenes. Scouts supports flexible volunteering and there is no minimum expectation - you can help out as often or as little as you like.
What skills do I need?
You’ll be joining a friendly team with many years of combined experience.
Everyone’s welcome and everyone brings something special. Whether you’re a master of marshmallow toasting, a whizz in the kitchen, or simply someone who shows up with a smile, you’ve got what it takes to join our team.
You might:
Run a great game
Talk about looking after money
Talk about looking after pets
Share what you love about your job or hobby
Update our social media pages
Help plan and deliver a great programme of activities
Learn (or teach) a knot or two
Paint our Scout hut or do some DIY
This is a very rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in your local community. You'll be helping a long standing established Scout Group continue to help young people thrive and have experiences that will stay with them for a lifetime.

Our weekly sessions with the young people are Monday and Wednesday evenings.
We are also looking for volunteers to join our trustee team to help on a more adhoc basis and a meeting once a month
