We believe that young people should be defined by their talents and not their circumstances and that everyone deserves someone to help them find their way.

Our programme is all about building a 1:1 relationship between a mentor and a young person who’s facing challenges.

Mentors are 21 years and above, provide support, encouragement and a friendly listening ear. With just one hour a week, it can make a huge difference in their confidence and future choices! It can also really benefit the mentor including improved wellbeing and the development of new skills.

Here's what mentoring with us involves: -

  • Your commitment: Just one hour a week during school hours and term time, for a minimum of one year, offering a listening ear, encouragement and support.
  • Training: You’ll complete our interactive 3-hour mentor training (which is completed online) to help you feel confident and ready.
  • Matching: We’ll carefully match you with a young person, based on shared interests and personalities.
  • Ongoing support: You’ll be fully supported by our team.

Mentors are matched in 4 Secondary schools

  • Callerton Academy - Bedeburn Road, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE5 4JQ;
  • Excelsior Academy - Denton Road, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE15 6AF ;
  • Jesmond Park Academy - Jesmond Park West, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE7 7DP ;
  • Walker Riverside Academy, Waverdale Avenue, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE6 4AW
