A Pets’ Corner Volunteer supports the day‑to‑day running of the Jesmond Dene miniature farm by working alongside the Pets’ Corner keeper to help care for a variety of animals.
Typical tasks include - feeding, mucking out, providing enrichment to keep animals stimulated, assisting staff with routine health checks such as weighing, and helping ensure every animal remains happy, healthy, and well‑cared‑for. Volunteers also contribute to creating a welcoming environment by answering questions from visitors and sharing basic information about the animals.
This role requires a regular commitment of one day per week, and due to high interest, a waiting list is currently in place; once you have submitted your application, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator to learn more about next steps.
As with all our roles, we ask you to complete a short application form so we can set you up on our volunteer system. You’ll then be invited to book a brief introduction call with our Volunteer and Community Engagement Specialist. This friendly, informal 15‑minute chat is an opportunity to talk about what you’re looking for, explore which roles might suit you best, and learn more about how to get involved.
Volunteers will receive full induction and training. A interest in working with animals is essential.
