We're looking for an enthusiastic and experienced green-fingered individual who would like to support people who have experienced homelessness and other life challenges to maintain and develop green and community spaces.

This opportunity will enable you to help our residents to improve their wellbeing and gain new skills, whilst building their confidence and bringing a sense of pride and purpose back into their lives.

Location: Progression Hub (Tyne Housing), Wilfred Street, Byker, Newcastle, NE61JQ.

We support Tyne residents from across the region. We can negotiate the areas you are able to cover.

Time Commitment: 5 - 10 hours per week, this is a new role so demand will be regularly reviewed.

Role Purpose

To assist Tyne Housing in delivering safe, enjoyable, and well-organized green wellbeing activities for Tyne residents and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting residents to maintain and cultivate community spaces
  • Checking and reporting equipment, refreshments and provisions
  • Effectively communicating, recording and monitoring attendance, and assisting with associated paperwork
  • Ensuring a safe, friendly, teamworking environment
  • Reporting of any safeguarding concerns promptly
  • Operate inline with Tyne’s policies and procedures, e.g. Health and safety
  • Appropriate training will be provided.

What skills do I need?

  • Aged over 18 years
  • Ability to support vulnerable adults, and lead small group sessions to maintain and develop green and community spaces
  • Experience in maintaining and cultivating green/community spaces
  • Knowledge and experience of managing activities safely, creating and complying with risk assessments
  • Strong communication, organizational skills, and a flexible and positive attitude
  • Willing to undergo a DBS check, and complete basic training, e.g. Safeguarding, first aid, etc.
