Foodkind is a not-for-profit environmental organisation in Northampton. Our social supermarket provides affordable food and reduces the amount of food going into food waste and landfill. The food is collected daily from local supermarkets who would otherwise throw it away The shop is open 3 times a week and is run by volunteers and supported by a paid staff member,
We are looking for people who are physically fit - this is a job you do on your feet! and who want to help the planet but reducing food waste. You don't need to have experience as we offer training and support to all our volunteers. There are 2 main roles for volunteers: 1) Food collectors - going to local shops to collect the rescued food and bringing it to the shop - for this you need to be a car driver ( we will pay for your petrol costs) and able to lift boxes of food into your car and then drop them at the shop. Our coordinator will train you in the role and support you as you start your collecting. 2) Shop volunteer - helping to sort the rescued food and then help with the running of the shop welcoming and serving customers. For this role you need to be fairly fit as it a job you do on your feet and welcoming to our customers but no other experience needed we will show you what to do with our induction sessions
