Brixworth Library are pleased to offer an exciting volunteer opportunity for a Story Time Leader.

Story Time is a fun, friendly and informal story session for families that lasts around half an hour and helps children to build social skills, speech and language skills and fine motor skills. We are looking for someone to join our small team of volunteers who take turns to lead these sessions.

What tasks may be involved?

Choosing a story and preparing activity or craft materials prior to the event. Setting out the furniture and equipment before the event. Greeting attendees. Reading the story in font of a group of pre-school children and their families. Encouraging attendees to listen and interact. Demonstrating and assisting with a craft, activity or game after the story. Clearing away at the end of the session.

What skills do I need?

You will need to:

Be confident to work with children and families. Be willing to work with children in a group setting. Be comfortable communicating with children and families. Be able to read aloud confidently and expressively. Be happy to work as part of a team.
