We are looking for volunteers who can provide a loving foster home for a cat whose own human family may be escaping domestic abuse. You may be needed to care for their cat for between 5-8 months, and our friendly team at Paws Protect will offer support throughout the placement, including all equipment, food and litter. Cats will have access to vet care, will be neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, flea and wormed before going to a foster carers home.

If you would like to have a chat about how you can help, and find out more about what we do, please contact Louise or Charlie.

A little bit about us;

Paws Protect offers temporary foster care for cats whose owners are fleeing domestic abuse, the service enables both survivors and their pets to get to safety and then aims to reunite them once the owner has secure housing in place. We work in partnership with Dogs Trust who operate a similar initiative.

We are excited to be expanding the Paws Protect and Freedom Project services into the East and West Midlands including the Northamptonshire area, and are looking for volunteer foster carers.

We have seen that having a pet in the home can bring a lot of joy to people and we find the services benefit our foster carers as much as it does our owners. It can be hugely rewarding for them to know they’re helping not just a cat or a dog, but their owner and often their family as well.

Paws Protect, is a specialist cat fostering service for anyone fleeing domestic abuse. As many refuges are unable to accept pets, this service offers a lifeline to people who are taking experiencing domestic abuse and want to ensure their pet will be safe too.

To support the launch of Paws Protect in the Midlands, the team are now looking for volunteers to open up their hearts and homes to cats in need. Fostering a cat is a great opportunity to enjoy the company of furry friend but without the cost involved or the long term commitment, whilst also knowing that you’re supporting a survivor to get to safety. Not only that, 96% of Paws Protect volunteers say that fostering a cat has had a positive impact on their mental health and wellbeing.
