This October Nottingham's longest established and celebrated Operatic Society are performing Chess the Musical at Nottingham's Theatre Royal from Wednesday 28 - Saturday 31 October 2006. Nottingham Operatic Society have performed many shows to a packed theatre and high critical acclaim.

This Autumn Young Lives vs Cancer are very privileged to have been selected as Nottingham Operatic Society's Charity of the Year, so we have the opportunity to collect donations and sell souvenir programmes to the public throughout show week! Each day there is an afternoon (matinee) and an evening performance where volunteers are required. The donations collected will go towards funding our vital work with children and young people (0-25) and their families facing Cancer. 

Volunteers must be aged 18 or over and you will receive one complimentary ticket to see the show courtesy of Nottingham Operatic Society.

Bucket collections and selling programmes will take place at the Theatre Royal doors and lobby during all performances of Chess the Musical Wednesday - Saturday 28 - 31 October 2026. Each day there is a matinee performance (afternoon) and an evening performance so you can choose which performance you would like to support.

You'll help welcome theatre goers, collect donations and hand out programmes before the show from 6.30pm, during the interval at around 8.30pm, and after the performance finishes between 10.00pm and 10.30pm.

If a daytime shift suits you better, you'll help collect donations and sell programmes from 1.30pm before the show starts, at 2.30pm, during the interval at around 3.30pm, and after the performance finishes between 5.00pm and 5.30pm.

All volunteers will receive one complimentary ticket for the show.
