Have you been diagnosed with coeliac disease or live with someone who has? Would you be confident to support others who live gluten free and are looking for support and advice? We have volunteering opportunities to host a local meet up in a gluten free venue near you once a month or every two months. The volunteer hosts a meet up in a commercial venue such as a coffee shop or supermarket cafe, preferably one that has some gluten free options for snacks. Hosting in a commercial venue means that there is no cost to the host or the charity other than a cup of coffee or a snack, same as the attendees. Our volunteers can host alone or co-host with another volunteer. There are no committee meetings, finance or administration other than confirming dates, venues and submitting them to us and a short feedback form after each event. Volunteers are supported with a monthly newsletter and monthly online event.

What skills do I need?

Meet up hosts must be diagnosed with coeliac disease, live with or have a close relative with coeliac disease and an understanding of the autoimmune disease. Meet up hosts are good listeners and communicators, empathetic and welcoming. Meet ups are open to all, but a volunteer may wish to specifically include younger family members as co-hosts to encourage children and teens to attend too.
