Youth Leaders work directly with young people in St John Ambulance Badger Setts and Cadet Units. By organising a mixed weekly programme, this role will support the learning and development of young people into the next generation of health citizens. Youth Leaders also help young people develop their confidence, teamwork skills, self-discipline, and generally encourage them to strive to be the best they can be, as well as supervise and support other adult volunteers in their team.

You’ll get a huge sense of satisfaction and pride delivering an essential service. It’s great for you, great for your community and great for our nation, and it requires only a small commitment of your time.

What skills do I need?

  •  A willingness to engage and support young people to learn life skills, including First Aid in a fun, interactive manner. - Required
  •  An enthusiasm for St John Ambulance as an organisation and dedication to our vision, mission, and values. - Required
  • A commitment to the health and safety, wellbeing, safeguarding and inclusion of all young people and adult volunteers within your unit. - Required
  • A commitment to our Youth Voice principles (Support, Empower, Inspire) and supporting our young people to become future leaders. - Required
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team and to communicate well with other adults and young people. - Required
  • Has some experience working with young people or in a youth organisation. - Desirable
  • Willing to supervise young people on events and on camps and undertake required training to do so. -Desirable
