We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate volunteer to join our team at CAMEO as a Kitchen Support. This role will primarily involve food sorting, preparation, and cooking tasks within the kitchen.
Key Responsibilities:
Food Sorting and Inventory Management:
> Assist with sorting and organizing food supplies and ingredients.
> Maintain inventory records and report any shortages or discrepancies to the Kitchen Manager.
Food Preparation and Cooking:
> Work closely with the Centre Coordinator and other staff to plan menus.
> Assist in food preparation activities such as chopping vegetables, marinating meats, and assembling ingredients.
> Follow recipes and cooking instructions provided by the Kitchen Manager.
> Assist in the preparation of balanced and nutritious meals for participants, taking into consideration dietary restrictions and preferences.
> Monitor cooking processes to ensure food is prepared safely and meets quality standards.
> Help with plating and presentation of meals.
> Demonstrate flexibility in accommodating individual dietary requirements and adapting recipes to suit the preferences and abilities of participants.
Kitchen Cleanliness and Sanitation:
> Adhere to food safety and hygiene protocols at all times.
> Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, utensils, and equipment before and after use.
> Dispose of food waste and maintain cleanliness in food storage areas.
> Washing dishes and help cleaning up.
Training:
>Attend relevant training sessions provided by the centre to enhance knowledge about dementia care, food safety, and specific dietary considerations.
Assistance in the Day Centre:
> Provide support to staff and participants in the day centre as needed.
> Engage with individuals attending the day centre in a friendly and respectful manner.
> Assist with setting up and cleaning activity areas as required.
> Foster a positive and supportive atmosphere. Be attentive to clients needs and preferences.
> Knowledge of food preparation, hygiene, and safety.
> Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
> Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
> Patience, empathy, and a non-judgmental attitude.
> A genuine interest in supporting individuals living with dementia and their caregivers.
> Positive and a friendly disposition.
> Reliable and punctual attendance.
