We are looking for a volunteer with Maths skills to support members of our 'Numeracy For Life And Work' sessions.
This role allows you to use your mathematics skills to support individuals with using numbers in their daily lives. We are looking for people with a decent understanding of numeracy to give peer support to people.
You will help them to do things like:
- Teaching someone to add / subtract
- Helping someone identify cheaper deals
- Working with them on improving their maths skills through 1-on-1 learning / online learning platforms
It will be giving support to the client's with what they want to learn and not structured training, however if there was a demand for particular training the volunteer is welcome to run a structured course
What skills do I need?
- Confident in the use of mathematics, algebra and numbers but not necessarily an expert.
- Good people skills e.g. friendly, helpful and with a good sense of humour and clear communication.
- Patient with people who may lack confidence.
