Volunteers are needed at the tea bar which is open Fridays at the Centre.  You would be required to serve tea, coffee and other refreshments.

Volunteers are needed from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm (approximately).

Volunteering Purpose

A volunteer is a person who freely provides their time, skills and experience without expectation of financial reward. We aim to ensure that both the volunteer and the Social centre will benefit from this mutual agreement.

The duties include, but are not inclusive of the following:

  • Serving customers
  • Serving cakes & pastries
  • Taking money & issuing change
  • Making tea, coffee and other hot drinks
  • Collecting used crockery and stacking the dishwasher
  • Keeping the servery stocked, clean & tidy
  • Work as part of a team.

What skills do I need?

Friendly, caring

This position requires you to be:

  • Patient - Diplomatic - Reliable - Empathetic - Flexible - Enthusiastic.

Are you:

  • Happy to work within a small team
  • Able to commit to a minimum of 2 - 3 hours per session
  • Happy to be contacted at short notice
  • Happy to cover holiday and/or sickness
  • Happy to deal with money
  • Happy to deal with people on a face to face basis.

Do you:

  • Have good level of numeracy & literacy
  • Good verbal & written skills, ability to listen & make yourself understood
  • Have experience of working in a front facing role
  • Have experience of working with older people (paid or voluntary)
  • Have knowledge of issues facing older people.
