The Foodbank at St Matthew’s in Redhill provides local families and individuals with essential food and supplies to keep them going until longer-term solutions are found.
Managing and delivering this support was originally a small operation run directly by a few church members but has steadily grown in scale over the years and is now organised as a separate incorporated charity with its own staff and a team of volunteers. We co-operate with a number of other local charities, acutely aware that too often food poverty is accompanied by other needs and problems that also require targeted support.
The Foodbank is overseen by a group of voluntary Trustees, who are jointly responsible for ensuring that our support to those in need is delivered effectively, efficiently and safely. Together, the Trustees need to be aware of and take into account:
The Foodbank at St Matthew’s is currently looking to appoint two new Trustees to replace Trustees whose terms are now completed, and to supplement the existing skills and experience of the continuing Trustees. In particular, the Foodbank is seeking new Trustees to broaden their collective experience of supporting homeless and low-income clients, although other relevant experience (e.g. finance, legal, marketing, IT, premises, etc.) would also be welcomed.
