Hadrian’s Wall Translation Audit Volunteer

What will I be doing?

As a Translation Audit Volunteer you will undertake a review of translation tools/materials already available to visitors.

This may include apps, books or web platforms.

You will be given a template to structure your research and some example text, taken from our sites, to use as a benchmark to review the quality of translation.

The above tasks can be done from home using the internet.

We are initially focusing our recruitment on the following languages, but if you speak a language other than what is listed below and would like to be involved in the future please contact Sophie at [email protected]

 Spanish  Dutch  French  German  Mandarin  Japanese  

What skills do I need?

What skills, qualities and experience do I need?

You should be confident translating materials from English into a target language without the use of translation tools, previous demonstrable experience of this would be beneficial but it is not essential.

You will need access to a computer, good internet connection and basic knowledge of using Microsoft Word or equivalent.

There may also be the need to use Google Drive for sharing completed work with English Heritage staff, training for this will be provided.
