If you like the idea of leading the action and raising £2million for a major charitable project in Thatcham, read on! West Berkshire Therapy Centre has the land needed to construct a new building in Thatcham that will include an expanded version of its award-winning rehabilitation gym and also house a 53 sq m Hydrotherapy Pool to help those in pain or with mobility problems to keep more mobile and independent. The construction cost will be circa £3-4million and there will be the need to have some funds in reserve once operational. The Trustees are not daunted by the task of raising £3-4m+, but are now seeking an experienced fund raiser who can lead the process, while being well supported throughout. A rare opportunity to raise large sums and be at the heart of delivering a much needed project that will transform people's quality of life.
What skills do I need?
- Knowledge and experience of successful, large scale fund raising (£1m+).
- Enthusiasm, drive and commitment to seeing things through, where lesser mortals might get discouraged and give up.
- An interest in helping those in pain or with mobility problems, or an interest in helping to deliver a unique, 'jewel in the crown' project for Thatcham and its surrounding areas.
- Charismatic and excellent presentation and communication skills.
- Ability to work on your own but also to lead or to co-lead a team.

There are no set hours for raising large sums of money. It needs a plan and is best thought of as a labour of love and probably a roller-coaster experience. You might succeed in a matter of a few hours, (maybe you know the right person to speak to) or more likely the task will require months of highly targeted work, carried out at times to suit you or your close colleagues.
