Being on the governing board means helping to shape the school's long-term vision and educational ethos while leaving day-to-day operations to the headteacher. We act as a "critical friend" — supporting school leaders while rigorously challenging student outcomes, monitoring behaviour, and ensuring public funds and budgets are spent wisely. It is a vital, unpaid commitment that blends corporate accountability, financial oversight, and community stewardship to help deliver the best possible education.
Experience in education, training, financial oversight, human resources, safeguarding, health and safety, data analysis, or strategic leadership is all welcome, but most important is the desire to provide the best possible education and the confidence to ask challenging, constructive questions. We would also welcome applications from young adults (age 18+) who will bring a more recent experience of schooling.

There are seven core meetings per year, usually held on Monday or Thursday evenings from 6-8pm. Governors are also expected to attend the school during school hours twice per year, at times to be agreed.
