Volunteering Opportunities with Greenham Common Control Tower
About
Greenham Control Tower opened its doors in Summer 2018 as a visitor centre and community hub, with the aim to preserve and share the historical legacy of one of the few remaining airfield buildings. It now shares the story of Greenham Common whilst supporting and cooperating with local organisations for the benefit of the whole community. There is a Café, Cold War exhibition, temporary exhibition room and an observation deck with extensive views over the local area. There are 4 themes we are particularly focusing on: * the military and Cold War history of the Common * the social history of the Common * the role of protest in society * nature conservation and wildlife The control tower offers space to enjoy the common from a fascinating and dynamic location with a range of activities and facilities aimed at all ages to educate, inform and entertain where you can reach for the skies from the comfort of the ground. Tower and Cafe opening hours: Wednesday - 10:30-15:00 Thursday - 10:30-15:00 Friday - 10:30-15:00 Saturday - 10:00-16:00 Sunday -10:00-16:00
