Volunteering Opportunities with Habbit Factory

The Habbit Factory is an inclusive Arts organisation working inclusively for ages 7+ at a lower cost for the working class. We work September to July during term time only, 39 weeks of the year. We have nearly 200 members over 3 age categories, Juniors (School year 3 – 6) Seniors (School year 7-11) Adults 18+. The year is taken up to research, develop a story, write, rehearse, perform, and review the performance. We also hold other small projects throughout the year. We believe that everyone should have access to the arts no matter of social status, disability and experience because we know that talent can be found everywhere, people just need the opportunity to showcase it. The Habbit Factory allows those, who would not usually get the opportunity due to social status and/or disability, to be creative and have their voice heard and experience many aspects of the Arts. We believe that it is not “what can’t you do”, more of “Show us what can you do”. We give the opportunity to be involved at every stage of developing brand new theatre of which they get to showcase at the end of the year in front of a live audience. This helps boost confidence, self-worth and begins to introduce people to the performing arts. The performances always tackle local and current issues. The issue is never the same, and this is presented alongside farcical comedy to make it easier for the audience to watch as well as fun for the members.
